DR. TODD KAMMERZELT, MD

PSYCHIATRIST
Dr. Todd Kammerzelt is an addiction psychiatrist certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), he received his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, including the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at the UW School of Medicine. He also accomplished his premedical degree at Columbia University and undergraduate degree at Tulane University.

In addition to his role of Psychiatrist at Midwest Detox, Dr. Kammerzelt also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He also serves as psychiatrist at The Manor residential program of Illinois, and most recently, he was the Medical Director of Connections Counseling in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Kammerzelt previously held the roles of Staff Psychiatrist at the Madison VA and Unit Chief for an adult co-occurring disorder program at the Brattleboro Retreat in Vermont. At Midwest Detox, Dr. Kammerzelt treats each client individually, utilizing his expertise in mental health and substance use disorders to understand and guide each individual with compassion and dedication.

SAMANTHA MLINAR
MSN, AGNP, PMHNP

NURSE PRACTITIONER
Samantha Mlinar is a double board-certified nurse practitioner (NP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric and Mental Health care, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) in Adult/Gerontology Primary Care.

Samantha received her Master’s in Nursing at Marquette University in addition to her primary care NP certification. She attended the University of Wisconsin Madison for her psychiatric NP certification. While there, she specialized in addiction psychiatry during clinical rotations and further explored her passion for psychedelic assisted therapy. Samantha worked as an emergency department nurse for 5 years while studying to become a nurse practitioner and provides her broad expertise to tailor her care for each patient at Midwest Detox by addressing all aspects of the detoxification and withdrawal process, including physical, emotional and psychiatric medical care.

Brittany Ramirez, BSN, RN

Director of Nursing
Brittany is a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is currently finishing her Master of Science in Nursing to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She previously worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, is a state certified Naloxone Administration Trainer, and has over 13 years of mental health and addiction experience.

With a compassionate and positive disposition, Brittany uses her passion for behavioral health, addiction treatment and recovery to lead her outstanding team of nursing staff at Midwest Detox to provide the most personalized and empathetic patient care at all times.

Jessica Benning, SAC

Care Coordinator
Jessica is a care coordinator and a licensed Substance Abuse Counselor in training, also serving as a state certified Clients Rights Specialist. Jessica has worked in the behavioral health field for 4 years, and previously worked with clients in residential care. In 2022 she also became a state certified Naloxone Administration Trainer, teaching others how to use the life-saving drug Naloxone.

Jessica uses her warmth and compassion to ease the recovery process which can often seem daunting for some. Her approach to caring at Midwest Detox is shaped by her sense of honor to be a part of the journeys of all who come under her care.

KATHRYN DANN, MSW, LSW

Director of Admissions
Kathryn is a Licensed Social Worker, with her Masters of Social Work degree, from Youngstown State University. She has seventeen years of highly acclaimed marketing, management, and community engagement experience.

With her naturally sweet and compassionate disposition, Kathryn builds on a life-long passion for behavioral health and various therapeutic approaches to recovery, as well as for general mental health wellness. She pairs her behavioral health expertise with her outreach role to ensure that every individual knows how serious Midwest Detox takes their recovery and feels welcome and cared for from the first contact and throughout.

Meir Kasnett

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director
Meir brings the passion of generations of medical professionals and educators to his role in leading the Midwest Detox team. After becoming involved in directing an addiction treatment program a number of years ago, mental health and addiction recovery have grown to become a life’s passion for him.

Meir blends his entrepreneurial vision of efficient growth hand-in-hand with his empathy and care for all individuals and their well-being, and is known to be deeply involved at all times and all levels with the success of the treatment program -particularly client success. A firm advocate of realizing each individual's life potential regardless of where they're at, he continually seeks out the collaboration of leaders in the medical, rehabilitation, and educational fields to provide the most effective policy and procedures for the clients and staff of Midwest Detox.
